Home to some of the most renowned golf courses in the world, including over 75 miles of award-winning coastal golf courses and the home of the THE PLAYERS Championship, TPC Sawgrass, Northeast Florida — known as Florida’s First Coast — is considered to be one of the most desirable places to golf in Florida and the United States.

How many golf courses are there in Northeast Florida?

Northeast Florida is home to 68 publicly accessible courses, including over a dozen in and around Jacksonville, Florida, such as Bent Creek Golf Course, Cimarrone Golf Club, Hidden Hills Golf Club and the beginner–friendly Windsor Parke course. Additional courses can be found in St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra Beach — including The Yards Golf Club — Clay County and Orange Park, Amelia Island — home to the 10-hole Little Sandy Short Course — and Palm Coast, where you can find the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Golf Resort & Spa.

THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is home to THE PLAYERS Championship, which is played annually in March.

Can the public play at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra?

Yes! The public can play the two championship courses available at TPC Sawgrass, THE PLAYERS Stadium Course and Dye’s Valley Course. Guests staying at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort can benefit from vacation packages that include golf at both courses. How much does it cost to play golf at TPC Sawgrass?

Vacation packages at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort in Ponte Vedra include golf at both TPC Sawgrass courses and tee times can be booked up to 12 months in advance for resort guests. Without lodging, tee times can be booked up to 14 days in advance and are priced as follows:

  • THE PLAYERS Stadium Course — Starting at $600 per player, September through May, and starting at $450 per player, June through August.
  • Dye’s Valley — Starting at $275 per player, September through May, and starting at $175 per player, June through August.

Is TPC Sawgrass only walking?

THE PLAYERS Stadium Course is cart path only, however golfers can walk the course like the pros but must hire a TPC Sawgrass walking caddy in order to do so. While accompanied by a forecaddie, players of the Dye’s Valley course are permitted to take carts onto the fairways when there are dry ground conditions.

How tough is TPC Sawgrass?

Designed by Pete Dye, the THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is a challenging course that tests the skills of professional golfers. The Par 72, 7,215-yard course is home to the famous “Island Green” 17 — one of the most challenging golf holes — and is one of the highest-ranked golf courses in Florida.
