Overview
Between the tranquil beaches of the Atlantic and the tidal marshes of the Intracoastal Waterway lies a secluded island paradise offering a resort and golf experience like no other.
Oak Marsh is currently closed for renovation and is expected to reopen in May 2025. Calm and competition live in harmony on Omni Amelia Island’s Oak Marsh Golf Course, a classic Pete Dye-designed course built in 1972. Known for its tight fairways and small greens, the course meanders along serpentine salt marsh creeks and winds through a hammock of signature moss-draped heritage oaks for which Amelia Island is famous. The 6,500-yard, par-72 course has 14 holes with water hazards and numerous bulk-headed greens. A variety of bunkers add to the challenge, and a natural approach has been maintained with coquina shell cart paths, native plant life, and preserved habitats for the local wildlife. Off the links, experience true luxury at Omni Amelia Island Resort with oceanfront guest rooms, nine dining options from casual poolside fare to all-day brunch and specialty seasonal Steak Out dinners at Marché Burette, 23 tennis courts, the Cliff Drysdale tennis program and a full-service nature-inspired spa. Find an activity for every outdoor enthusiast with guided kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, Segway tours, fishing, mini golf, and trails for biking and jogging. For a more laid-back vibe, settle into a quiet spot at the multi-tiered pool deck including an adult-only infinity edge pool or disconnect and recharge on an uncrowded beach.
Little Sandy features 10 holes nestled around Red Maple Lake, ranging from 30 to 125 yards, and an 18-hole putting course. Playing through a picturesque lowland oak marsh habitat, Omni Amelia Island Resort’s new short course provides a traditional, yet fun-focused golf experience for all ages and abilities. The course offers an idyllic setting as nearly all holes are played along Red Maple Lake’s water that contrast sandy native grass areas, dunes, and diverse wildlife habitat.
The Beau Welling design for Little Sandy was intentional to create an environment that promotes camaraderie and community. Playability and a fun atmosphere are emphasized to cater to families and those new to the game, but the course also offers strategic tests of golf and bold and contoured greens that will challenge more experienced golfers. One notable feature is the 10th hole that plays to an island green presenting a dramatic close to the round, even featuring a “hole-in-one” pin.
Little Sandy & Oak Marsh are open to the public*, resort guests, and members of The Amelia Island Club.
*not available to property owners and residents in Club-designated areas (south of the Fernandina Beach Airport and Bill Melton Road, and including Amelia Island Plantation, Summer Beach, Crane Island, and Brady Point Preserve).
